With the upcoming ending of the last season of Game of Thrones, all the super fans won’t forget how significant the Direwolves are to the creation of the story. Recently, two of the dogs that played Summer and Grey Wind was featured on the Today Show
The direwolf dogs
Meet Thor and Odin, two of the most famous dogs in the world today. This is because of their role as Direwolves during the first season of Game of Thrones. Of course, the production staff was not going to use real wolves for their scenes with children so they had to look for a doggy alternative and came across the two puppies of Will Mulhall.
Will’s dogs are Northern Inuit dogs that trace back their ancestries to Samoyeds and Siberian Huskies. They say that these types of dogs were really bred to look like wolves. Although they don’t appear in the epic series anymore, Thor and Odin are still as famous as any dogs could be.
There are even a number of fans that go all the way to their homes in Northern Ireland just to meet them, give them treats, and take pictures. These dogs are still so popular that they even have their own Instagram accounts and are both insured for $1 million. Even Will’s family were able to gain some notoriety because of these dogs, being cast as extras for the following seasons of Game of Thrones.
Although Thor and Odin have wolf-like features and are as big as can be, they are truly adorable and sweet. They happily welcome tourists who come by their small village in Belfast and pose patiently while the humans take their pictures. They are so friendly that they even take the time to cuddle with them and play.
